What was your first cooking experience?๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Iโ€™ve personally asked some family members on WordPress, questions like โ€œDo you love cooking?โ€ โ€œCan you cook?โ€ โ€œWhat food can you cook best?โ€

And Majority, letโ€™s say 90%, reply in the positive.

So now, I think itโ€™s high time I told you about the journey to my first cooking experience. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Itโ€™s all began…..

Well, like most males, I had an high interest in eating, but not preparing.

Like some guys, I was that kind of person that was always waiting to hear mom shout โ€œcome take your food!!๐Ÿ—ฃโ€ and thatโ€™s when we ran with the speed of light โœจ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

But afterwards, as I grew older, I got hungry faster ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ (I donโ€™t know if it applies to you). And it finally got to the point where I couldnโ€™t wait for mom to shout โ€œcome take your foodโ€๐Ÿ˜‚

Then the little Ego present in guys, came to me, and I said โ€œI can also do this thingโ€

I donโ€™t know if it was courage or Ego๐Ÿ˜‚, but whatever it was, it led me to my first cooking experience.

My cooking experience ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Then at that moment, I felt like a superhero ๐Ÿฆธโ€โ™‚๏ธ I felt like Jean in Xmen, I felt that if superheroes could control stuffs with their minds, I could also control cooking with my mind.๐Ÿ˜‚

Okay, I know you are also predicting how this is going to end, but hang on little ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Then I went to the kitchen and it was like I wasnโ€™t familiar with it. I was only familiar with the kitchen when I wanted to take my food, not when I wanted to cook my food๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Fast forward…..

I finally cooked๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ but I used my head to cook. I didnโ€™t look for recipes, I just used pure instinct ๐Ÿ˜‚

You should really try cooking with your instincts and not with guide ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Putting salt ๐Ÿง‚, pepper ๐ŸŒถ, etc… was purely based on my mind and itโ€™s only when my mind said โ€œstopโ€ that I knew the measurement was okay ๐Ÿคฃ

Parents Review ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

My parents came back from their outing, and when they saw what I did. They were very happy. ๐Ÿ˜Š at least, I had taken up interest in kitchen activities ๐Ÿ˜‡

Then they asked me if my friends were coming over. I said โ€œNOโ€. But they asked me again.

It was then I realized I had cooked for 20 ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃand we are just 5 in our family. I cooked a local food called โ€œEbaโ€

So I guess my instinct didnโ€™t put me well on the quantity measurement after-all ๐Ÿ˜…

๐Ÿ˜…so donโ€™t cook with your instinct, continue with your recipe guide ๐Ÿ˜…, except you are an expert ๐Ÿ˜‰

This is similar to the food I cooked. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

So thatโ€™s my first cooking experience ๐Ÿ˜ƒ.

It was hunger that prompted me to cooking. And from there, I took up interest in cooking some simple foods, not the complex ones ๐Ÿ˜‚

So whatโ€™s your first experience of cooking?

You can just briefly tell us, or tell us the details๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ hereโ€™s a good time to have a good laugh ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

  1. haha what an experience! I hope you finished the 20 servings ๐Ÿ˜›

My first experience was also out of pure need and survival. It was when I started my college. I had to be away from my parents living in a new city all by myself in a flat with one roomie.

She taught me how to cook and we took turns in cooking and doing other household chores. It was fun though!!

  2. The first time I was properly in the kitchen to make food was when I made bread rolls at school. I strolled out of school, feeling very pleased of myself, and offered some to my parents. They were disgusting and undercooked. They ended up unceremoniously thrown in the bin. My cooking experiences from then on have improved!๐Ÿ˜‚

  5. A boring dish… I was 5 years old when I cooked. My first dish I learned to cook was oat porridge. My Scottish father taught me, “it’s what Scottish people eat” , he said. I remember it was on a camping trip. I still eat oats today.

I think I got my love of camping from him ๐Ÿ‘

Great effort on your part tho , and brownie points for eyeballing the measurements ๐Ÿคฃ that takes a lot of courage , for sure!

I think the first thing that I ever tried cooking was flatbread. It’d turned out to be okay. Nothing spectacular but I think I got the job done๐Ÿคฃ

  7. At 12 years old I fried the prettiest chicken ever seen in my eyes, but when my family bit into it blood dripped down their faces. I am now teleworking and trying to learn how to make simple, delicious and fulfilling meals for my husband. He is the chef in the family and has spoiled me. I want to have delicious meals ready for him so I am following cooking blogs like this one. I really need recipes.

  8. Haha!
Its usually hunger that prompt to cook for the very first time!
Well, my cooking experiences are okay except for the very recent one!
I baked a chocolate cake recently,
My siblings/family very excitedly gathered around to cut the cake,
And to my surprise, it was undercooked in the middle๐Ÿ˜‚,
And i defended myself by saying, that it was a chocolate โ€œlavaโ€ cake.
    Hehe ๐Ÿ˜‰

  9. That looks delicious… and I loved reading about your experience ๐Ÿ˜‰
I dabbled in cooking from a young age…
I think the funniest was the first time I made a roast chicken though. I actually still don’t really like handling raw meat… but those days I was truly awful at it.
There I was, at the sink, trying to rinse the chicken off – not looking at what I was doing, pulling the most interesting faces, inwardly freaking out. Not realising it would get worse… I needed to remove the plastic bag of giblets inside.
One would swear I was a surgeon by this stage. There was no way I was touching that bag! I used mini tongs… and ‘ewwwww’ ‘ewwwww’ ‘ewwww’d my way to the dustbin thereafter.
In the end, the chicken tasted great though ๐Ÿ˜‰

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚what an interesting experience with the Chicken

I know right ๐Ÿ˜‚, I think my close friend has been in this situation before ๐Ÿ˜‚ the only different was that his chicken got burnt and we had no choice but to eat it ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  10. Hey… Loved your experience. Funny!!!
I am not a chef, but I do cook good food. That’s because, when I was small, I was never given the chance to even go near the stove. I grew curious and I had to experiment with the leaves and flowers when I was so small. And then, when my parents were away,I cooked with the help of my grandmother on a video call. I still remember her scolding me when I accidentally poured water to boiling oil…๐Ÿ˜…. It was an accident, I swear!
And then, the whole food, fortunately, turned out to be good. Mum and papa loved it!!!
Thanks to God and obviously, my grandmother!!

    1. ๐ŸฅฐIโ€™m happy to hear that you began the great journey of being a good cook at such an early age.

Itโ€™s expected, maybe because of our in-exposure, we are not always allowed near the stove at an early age ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

      Grandma! ๐Ÿ˜Š

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚you poured water to boiling oil๐Ÿ˜‚ but Iโ€™m glad you are alright, it could be worse ๐Ÿ™

  12. I think the first time I ever cooked was making my dad a PB&J sandwich because my mom was away and my dad was running late from work and going to play tennis and didn’t have time to cook anything. I remember it was the first time I felt like I “took care” of my dad (this happened when I was in elementary school). That kind of stuck with me and I think i still use cooking to show my love and care for others.
