πππI cooked. I cooked. I cooked. I cooked. I cooked ππππ
Okay, let me start with a question.
Would you ever allow a guy who burnt a cake, to make food for the family? π
I guess I should narrate my journey of how I cooked the family food.
Mother went out, so it was I, Henry, Victor and Dad at home.
ππTo be honest, out of we males at home, even though we are all bad in cooking, Iβm still the only one whoβs doing good enough π
I would have shared this since, but I was looking for the pictures to include so you can see the food I cooked
Day 1
So the first day, I cooked beans together with yam (itβs very delicious π in case you havenβt tried it out) ππbecause I cooked it good enough, I was proud of the wife material inside of me ππ
Day 2
I made Rice π. It was White Rice and Stew ππ We bought pepper and blended it. Then I added the ingredients (curry, thyme, bullion cubes, etc) It was also very good, my brothers even said my stew was like mumβs own π I didnβt want to believe them, but for some reasons I did π βI will soon be as good as mum in cookingβ I told myself. βMaybe 20 years laterβ I quickly added πππ
Day 3
ππππππ now, we ran out of food ideasπππunbelievable! Just as we have writerβs block, we also have cooking block πππI realized this on day 3.
In the morning, because we didnβt have a clue of what to cook, we did HUNGER STRIKE ππyou know, Hunger strike is when you strike because you are hungry. Itβs not fasting. You are hungry and you donβt know what to cook/eat, so you deliberately stay hungry until your stomach causes a rebellion ππ
In the afternoon, we ate bread! π but In Nigeria, bread isnβt βgoodβ Eat 15 slices, a typical Nigeria will still be hungry in 10 minsπ
It was in the evening that I discovered that yams existed in our kitchen π and I reasoned that I could cook Yam Porridge.
So I cooked yam porridge that evening. πππand of course, it feeelsss goooooood π
Day 4
Mum arrived and made Amala and Ewedu πthatβs a local dish. A Yoruba delicacy π₯°my cultureβs food
πππand thatβs the end of my family cooking eraπ
Now, it remains baking. Baking is the next on my list. Hopefully, I will not burn a cake againπππ
I just wanted to update you about my cooking lifeπ Vincent Ehinderoβs journey to cooking β€οΈyeah, itβs a journey with a lot of turns and bumps ππ
I hope you stay safe and well. Very soon, I will be visiting countries by Godβs grace. And I want to meet with you if I ever come to your country, so please, stay safe β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈππLove you β€οΈ
Ps. Those pictures above is how each food is meant to look. But if I post the exact picture of how mine looked..ππππyou donβt want to see it, trust me ππππ
Nice … β€

ππAmala and Ewedu
Nahhh, thatβs my mum that prepared that, not me ππ
The Amala is made from Yam flour. I.e, Grounded yam into flour.
And the Ewedu is made from the plant. the English name of this plant is jute mallow with the botanical name Corchorus olitorius.
πyou can cook pepper stew and fish or meat to taste

Whatβs your favorite vegetarian food?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Why awww?
Haha vegetarian is so much more than πΏπππ₯¬ Everything but flesh.
Trust me, we have more vegetarian variety in India than the nonveg variety in the west. π
I don’t have a favourite.
I like many things. There are too many to choose from.
India has the world’s largest population of vegetarians, so the whole market is based on that fact. For eg. Anything which contains non veg ingredients has a red dot inside a box on it.

Thatβs wonderful!!!

What are the benefits of becoming a vegetarian? Why donβt you want to eat flesh π
LikeLiked by 1 person
I don’t know about chicken, but very few Indians eat beef. Cow is considered holy by vast majority of indians. Killing it is considered a sin. So Beef is not found in India.
And consider the fact that the “taste of meat” is mostly derived from added spices. Spices are vegetarian π
The reason is both religious and ethical. Vegetarianism has been a part of Hinduism since long. It is considered wrong to harm animals. (Bad Karma)
Oh and I am sure there are hundreds of other benefits. For example, many diseases originate from eating of meat/flesh. So less chances of falling ill or having worms in intestine π
But it is everyone’s personal choice.

Wow, another new stuff Iβm knowing
Yeah, itβs definitely some historical stuff, I guessed so

Learning to cook and to bake takes time.
Nobody does it well at first, that’s when you ask for advice and how to’s.
Even in my late 30’s I was still calling my grandmother on tips for certain things.
So, way to go on your success, keep going, keep trying. Cooking is so enjoyable and brings quick results.

I believe cooking and baking is a journey
You ask for directions to find your way. And when you have undergone the journey multiple times by different guidance, you can now find your way
