I cooked!!!! I can’t believe it!!! I really cooked!! FOR THE FAMILY!!!😱

😌😌😌I cooked. I cooked. I cooked. I cooked. I cooked πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Okay, let me start with a question.

Would you ever allow a guy who burnt a cake, to make food for the family? πŸ˜‚

I guess I should narrate my journey of how I cooked the family food.

Mother went out, so it was I, Henry, Victor and Dad at home.

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚To be honest, out of we males at home, even though we are all bad in cooking, I’m still the only one who’s doing good enough πŸ˜‚

I would have shared this since, but I was looking for the pictures to include so you can see the food I cooked

Day 1

So the first day, I cooked beans together with yam (it’s very delicious πŸ˜‹ in case you haven’t tried it out) 😎😎because I cooked it good enough, I was proud of the wife material inside of me πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Day 2

I made Rice 🍚. It was White Rice and Stew πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ We bought pepper and blended it. Then I added the ingredients (curry, thyme, bullion cubes, etc) It was also very good, my brothers even said my stew was like mum’s own πŸ˜‚ I didn’t want to believe them, but for some reasons I did πŸ˜‚ β€œI will soon be as good as mum in cooking” I told myself. β€œMaybe 20 years later” I quickly added πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Day 3

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ now, we ran out of food ideasπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚unbelievable! Just as we have writer’s block, we also have cooking block πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚I realized this on day 3.

In the morning, because we didn’t have a clue of what to cook, we did HUNGER STRIKE πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚you know, Hunger strike is when you strike because you are hungry. It’s not fasting. You are hungry and you don’t know what to cook/eat, so you deliberately stay hungry until your stomach causes a rebellion πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

In the afternoon, we ate bread! πŸ˜‚ but In Nigeria, bread isn’t β€œgood” Eat 15 slices, a typical Nigeria will still be hungry in 10 minsπŸ˜…

It was in the evening that I discovered that yams existed in our kitchen πŸ˜…and I reasoned that I could cook Yam Porridge.

So I cooked yam porridge that evening. 😌😌😌and of course, it feeelsss goooooood 😍

Day 4

Mum arrived and made Amala and Ewedu πŸ˜‚that’s a local dish. A Yoruba delicacy πŸ₯°my culture’s food

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚and that’s the end of my family cooking eraπŸ˜‚

Now, it remains baking. Baking is the next on my list. Hopefully, I will not burn a cake againπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ™

I just wanted to update you about my cooking lifeπŸ˜… Vincent Ehindero’s journey to cooking ❀️yeah, it’s a journey with a lot of turns and bumps πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜…

I hope you stay safe and well. Very soon, I will be visiting countries by God’s grace. And I want to meet with you if I ever come to your country, so please, stay safe β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈπŸ’πŸ’Love you ❀️

Ps. Those pictures above is how each food is meant to look. But if I post the exact picture of how mine looked..πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚you don’t want to see it, trust me πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

    1. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚I just added a paragraph to the bottom of the post. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

But I really appreciate your nice comments. She didn’t see the foods πŸ˜ƒbut she was happy that I kept the family males from starving πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

      2. That’s great to know πŸ˜ƒyou are welcome πŸ™

Yeah, almost the same routine everyday. I rarely watch news πŸ˜‚, I read them online instead πŸ˜‚

Mum and Dad aren’t happy with it and each time they complain, I simply say β€œEverything is going digital” πŸ˜‚

  1. Well done. Lovely to see all the dishes too. My husband could only bake πŸ˜‚I think because he loves cakes and sweets. I could cook but not bake, finally he taught me to bake but I prefer cooking savory dishes.

    1. πŸ˜„thanks

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚well, if he loves cakes and sweets, definitely, he would know how to bake what he loves πŸ˜…

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚just like me, I can cook but not bake, I know I will learn baking very soon.

I think I will make an opinion poll right now. πŸ˜‚my next post.

    1. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚Amala and Ewedu

Nahhh, that’s my mum that prepared that, not me πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

The Amala is made from Yam flour. I.e, Grounded yam into flour.

And the Ewedu is made from the plant. the English name of this plant is jute mallow with the botanical name Corchorus olitorius.

πŸ˜ƒyou can cook pepper stew and fish or meat to taste

      1. Why awww?
Haha vegetarian is so much more than πŸŒΏπŸƒπŸ€πŸ₯¬ Everything but flesh.
Trust me, we have more vegetarian variety in India than the nonveg variety in the west. πŸ˜‚

        I don’t have a favourite.
I like many things. There are too many to choose from.

India has the world’s largest population of vegetarians, so the whole market is based on that fact. For eg. Anything which contains non veg ingredients has a red dot inside a box on it.

      2. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚I awww because when I know vegetarians, I always wonder how life is without my chicken and beef 🀣

        Woah πŸ™€largest population of vegetarians

        That’s wonderful!!!

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚a great way to identify Non veg ingredients πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

What are the benefits of becoming a vegetarian? Why don’t you want to eat flesh πŸ˜ƒ

      3. I don’t know about chicken, but very few Indians eat beef. Cow is considered holy by vast majority of indians. Killing it is considered a sin. So Beef is not found in India.

And consider the fact that the “taste of meat” is mostly derived from added spices. Spices are vegetarian πŸ™‚

The reason is both religious and ethical. Vegetarianism has been a part of Hinduism since long. It is considered wrong to harm animals. (Bad Karma)

Oh and I am sure there are hundreds of other benefits. For example, many diseases originate from eating of meat/flesh. So less chances of falling ill or having worms in intestine πŸ˜‚
But it is everyone’s personal choice.

      4. Worms in intestine🀣🀣🀣

So cow is a sacred animal in India πŸ˜ƒ

Wow, another new stuff I’m knowing

Yeah, it’s definitely some historical stuff, I guessed so

Well, I will try to be a vegetarian for a month, (the vegetarian challenge)

Let me even experience how it will be

      5. It might be tougher for you. You don’t have vegetarian burgers and pizzas in nigeria I believe? πŸ˜‚ Oh and the millions of Indian recipes. But do share how it goes!

    1. Yes, and now, I’ve gotten a unique advice from you πŸ˜ƒπŸ€—

I believe cooking and baking is a journey

You ask for directions to find your way. And when you have undergone the journey multiple times by different guidance, you can now find your way

    1. Thanks so much πŸ€—πŸ€—

      πŸ™I appreciate your commendation

The name of the local dish is β€œAmala and Ewedu”. You can check it up on google to know more about it and see other pictures

    1. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚the pics I didn’t take

I didn’t even remember to. πŸ˜…just ate it all up

But if I make any food, because you asked, I will try to take pictures and show you and everyone else.

But I’m certain you can cook as well?πŸ˜ƒ

      1. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚I didn’t 😝

        πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚only when you have toπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Or you mean when hunger forces you to πŸ˜‚

But still, you do cook, which is very fantastic

  2. What country do you live in? I don’t recognize the last dish and have never heard of it. The more you cook, the faster and easier it gets. Or so I’ve heard….I bake. I don’t cook.πŸ˜…

    1. Nigeria πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚yeah, the last dish is a local dish. Native to my culture (the Yoruba culture)

      Yes, consistency matters in cookingπŸ˜ƒ

      You bake aloneπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚no cooking

You are a sharp contrast to me.

      I cook alone, I don’t bake πŸ˜‚

  3. Wow. I wish there were other kinds of food to cook apart from rice and stew (very popular), yam, beans and local delicacies here in Nigeria. I wish I could try cooking something else than what everybody is used to.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Yeah, especially the rice and stew πŸ˜‚πŸ˜ƒ

It’s like we already have a cycle of foods to be cooking πŸ˜‚

It’s tiring sometimes, no room to even try something new and different

  4. Well done! What is in your Mums dish though, it looks really interesting also I never thought of adding sweet potato (that’s what we call yams I think) to porridge and now my brain wants the recipe to that as well 😊

    1. And concerning the porridge, just search out β€œBeans and yam food” it will bring it out with the recipes πŸ˜ƒπŸ€—

I think you will understand it in details if you see posts centered on the foods alone πŸ˜ƒ

But if you have any questions, I can personally answer them
