😂so I decided to learn Spanish. I just love the language 😂

I was born into English language, so that’s not a problem for me 😂

Then I got to school and French was a necessity. I don’t know how on earth I couldn’t get so well with French 😂😂😂I’m still wondering and a little regretful that I should have paid more attention to French.

But then I have a favorite player who happens to be the best player in the world (you are free to argue😂).

Lionel Messi. 😃And my favorite team is Barcelona.

And now, I’m learning Spanish 😃

Anyways, which language do you love so much apart from your native language? 😃

Now, this is the funny part 😂😂

After I’ve learnt Spanish to a particular level of satisfaction, I decided to go watch the La Liga (A soccer league)

I wanted to interpret what the interviewers were saying, at least, to sharpen my language skill.

I gave up! 😂😂they were too fast for me. Their mouths were just moving like razors and I couldn’t even pick out a word that I’ve learnt from what they were saying 😂😂😂

I use the Duolingo app and one other app that I can’t remember it’s name.

You can be using some of your native languages in our conversation. So I ask “what does it mean?” And you tell me! 😃 and vice versa.

That way, we are learning together.

    I know a little french, but too little.
    Just curious, which nation are you from?

        We have 3 major languages

        Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa.

        I’m Yoruba by origin.

        But we have English as our official language.

        We were colonized by Britain. So English becomes our official language

        India too was colonised by british. However, English is our subsidary official language. The main one is Hindi.

      5. Ironically, the word hindi itself is foreign to India. 😃
        The language was formed after India was invaded by Arabs Turks etc. And there was mixing of languages. Before that Sanskrit was spoken

      7. Hindi is not foreign to India. It was created in India after mixing of local languages, sankrit, and arabic.

        The word Hindi is derived from Hindu. Hindu refers to a person living in Hindustan. Hindustan was the name given to India by Persians. (Because of Sindhu river).

        When the foreign rulers came they referred to India and Indians by this name.

      21. Surprisingly, google says that the average nigerian man is 5 feet 4.5 inches.

        But I don’t trust statistics. They say Indian men are on average 5 feet 5 inches . I am sure that is less than reality

        Stand against a wall, make a mark using a pencil above your head on the wall, then use a scale to measure the height

        He asked that “is it love?”

        I nope 😂

        He was scared and didn’t want to read it 😂😂😂

        But I will use another method to try to get him to read it 😂

        wow! So it was Mrs Collins that killed her daughter? I loved how you bring everything together

        Leaving your reader in suspense until the last lines.

        And is Miss Tracey her daughter? Or is it some horror stuff happening to Mrs Collins? 😂

        I think this story needs a part two. You have created the needed engagement with this first story, we will definitely want to know the part two.

  4. Well I wish I could speak German but I don’t even know a thing about the language. Haha! It’s all in my head.
    I recommend watching Spanish movies so you groom your skills, you can also watch Spanish vocabulary videos on YouTube.

      1. I want to learn Sanskrit too. It is the most ancient language of India from which other languages were made. But it is difficult to learn it online. It has almost negligible speakers

  10. its fuuny that you would share this, because I have plans to hit up youtube and get some spanish lessons myself. I did it while attending university but only passed the course, still cannot speak the language. It is on my bucket list of things to learn. All the best, hopefully I can get my feet wet in the world of spanish.

      Spanish is just so attractive to me.

      I think that’s one thing about learning foreign languages. You will pass them in exams but it’s very difficult to speak 😂

      It would be great to get familiar with Spanish. A very nice opportunity it would be

        Yeah. I live there, in Nigeria 😃
        My favorite thing about it is that it has many vacant spaces to take advantage of for business.

        If you have a business, Africa is one of the best places to come do it.

        And also, if you just want to enjoy a fun and free life, you can enjoy it.

  13. I speak French and a little bit of Spanish. I actually just started learning Arabic on Duolingo today! Duolingo is great for beginning to learn a language, but if you ever find that it’s too easy, try Clozemaster. Clozemaster really helpful for increasing your vocabulary because it has you translate words in the context of full sentences. And of course watching movies and TV shows with subtitles on are great ways to increase your familiarity with the sounds of the language and slang vocabulary.

      Yeah, I will have to download Spanish movies or follow TV shows. I really need to get familiar with the sound. That’s the main thing for me 😅

      Yeah, In college/high school, we were allowed to learn one/two foreign languages.

      English is universally accepted and widely spoken. At least majority of people you come by will know English language more than any other languages.

  15. I’m a native English speaker, but I learned Spanish in school and then lived in Spain for a year during my Jr. Year Abroad. I loved it! And yes, I can still speak it! :). Good for you! So nice to meet you…Encantada de conocerle.

  17. I’m natural with English, but I grew up in a home with many people speaking French, we had three or four French TV channels and I took 3 years of it in school. I still can’t understand when people speak it, but I can read it quite easily. I learned a little Japanese when I lived in Japan 20 years ago, but have forgotten most of it by now.

      I think after English, French is the next widely learnt language.

      Japanese 😃I always have a hard time figuring Japanese language from other similar languages.

      Some people speak French so fast, and sometimes, I just give up trying to understand them. 😂

        It will teach people the right emojis to use In conversations😂😂😂some people’s really need orientations on emojis 😂

  22. I took Spanish, back in the day, and forgot most of it. I tried Duolingo and liked it. I got too busy and slacked off and should get back to it. Personally, I think everyone should speak more than one language.

    1. Awesome! That’s one major challenge with learning new languages. People just stop halfway due to some circumstances.

      Yeah, it’s a golden opportunity for someone to learn more than one language. Who knows? Opportunities can come in the other language or country😃

  26. Hola, Vincent ! I studied basic Spanish too pero yo hablo un poco Español solamente. Haha to be honest, I think I forgot my Spanish already. =))

    It’s nice to know you took French too! I’m taking up European Languages now and my major is French while my minor is German. J’espère que tu te souviens encore ton français ! 🙂

    I started learning Japanese this quarantine because I loved watching anime and other Japanese films so I want to understand them. I stopped with Hiragana and Katakana. Hahahahaha!

    Oh, I also took basic Russian. It’s really, really interesting and before the lockdown, I am enrolled in a course discussing how the events in Russia affected world history. It’s sooo cool.

    To be honest, I’d love to polish those languages now but I find it hard to focus during this quarantine. I hope I find the time and inspiration to do so soon.

      1. Cool! Hmm I think Hebrew’s kinda hard to learn? I’m not sure tho I only heard it from friends who tried learning Greek and Hebrew 😂 but it’s definitely a great choice!

        Spanish and French are kinda alike (except for pronunciation) so I know you’ll find your way around ☺️

        Haha! That’s my goal too! I want to understand what I’m watching in its original language, that’s why it’s fun to learn them 😂

  29. Japanese!! Oh, and as someone who abandoned Spanish in middle school, I’m relearning it. Turns out, I’ve missed out on a lot of things in Spanish!

    Also, Japanese is a fun language to learn(even though some words sound funny when you pronounce them😅)

  31. I would love to learn Italian. I love Italian food. I learned basic Italian in High School but forgot most of it. But now as an adult I would love to learn Italian. I love the way Italians are so passionate. Especially with food and family

    1. Italian! 😃 I also cherish the Italian culture. And as you said, Italy is best known for their very generous attitude and hospitality.

      I haven’t really checked out their food, but that will definitely be the first thing I will try out when visiting 😅

      They also take everyone as their family. I’ve seen most people testify to this 😃

  34. I’m not surprised you had a hard time with French. I took it my entire childhood, and by college I still found it hard to remember the exceptions to the rules… and exceptions to the exceptions … not to mention the other exceptions. Good for you learning Spanish. (Yeah, we do fine until a native starts speaking it ten times faster than we can follow.)

      Yeah, when you hear a native speaking it so fast, you begin to feel intimidated 😂😂😂😂and without care, you might give up on the language due to frustrations🤣🤣🤣

    My favorite language is still the Spanish of Andalusia, probably because it’s my most comfortable next to Mexican Spanish, and I love the European pronunciation. It’s also far easier to learn French (at least it was for me) after learning Spanish. Greek is likewise much easier to learn using Spanish, as the grammars are so similar.
